Redesigning a mission-driven nonprofit’s website to make its programs clearer, navigation simpler, and resources more accessible to the communities they serve.
The Center for Vocational Rehabilitation (CVR) is a nonprofit organization based in New Jersey that empowers individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Through programs such as behavioral health, supported employment, vocational evaluation, and on-site work opportunities, CVR offers practical pathways toward personal growth, independence, and inclusion. Their impact spans decades, helping individuals gain skills, find jobs, and build meaningful lives within their communities.
This redesign stayed true to CVR’s existing brand while elevating it through cleaner structure, improved accessibility, and clearer content hierarchy. The layout uses generous white space, bold Roboto Slab headings, and defined sections that make it easy for visitors to scan, read, and take action—whether exploring programs or making a donation. CVR’s established navy-indigo and bright gold were preserved but subtly adjusted for better contrast and compliance with accessibility standards. These colors are now used more intentionally to draw focus, improve legibility, and guide the user through key pages. The result is a site that feels warm, structured, and mission-driven—reliable enough for partners and welcoming for individuals and families seeking support.
The development focused on making the site easier to manage behind the scenes and easier to navigate up front. A new custom post type was created for the Events & Fundraisers section, allowing CVR to simply enter event details in the backend and automatically generate a polished, consistent event page. This makes it effortless for staff to promote upcoming events while keeping the layout clean and clear for site visitors.
We also addressed a long-standing pain point around contact inquiries. Previously, different staff emails were scattered across pages, creating confusion about who to reach out to. The redesigned site uses a conditional contact form that routes inquiries based on the user’s selected topic—ensuring messages are sent to the right person while keeping the experience simple and centralized for visitors.
Finally, the site’s structure was reorganized to reduce repetition and eliminate outdated or redundant pages. The result is a cleaner navigation experience, helping users find what they need faster while making the site easier for CVR’s team to maintain over time.
The new CVR website reflects the heart of the organization while delivering the structure and functionality they needed. Programs are easier to understand, contact is simpler and more reliable, and events are now easy to promote—all within a clean, accessible design that respects the diverse needs of their audience.
It’s a site built not just to look better, but to work better—for everyone who depends on it.
